Dr. Ashok K.Ghosh is Professor-in-Charge, Department of Environment and Water Mangement ,Senior Faculty member in Dept. of Biotechnology,A.N.College,Patna, Advisor in Eastern Zonal Water Partnership ( an affiliate of Global Water Partnership), Advisor to WaterAid India, and International Scientific Advisor in Project PRAMA, University of Manchester, UK. He has been nominated as Deputy Chairman of GTZ (Germany)- Govt. Of Bihar CDM Core Group. He was awarded  Gold Medal by Patna University (India) for his excellence in academics.Dr. Ghosh is also one of the Coordinators of Students/ Faculty mobility Program- Erasmus Mundus External Cooperation Window (EURINDIA), 2009. Dr. Ghosh has 33 years of teaching and research in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences with specialisation in Water sciences and nanotechnolgy. He established the multi-disciplinary department of Environment and Water Management imparting under graduate course, and post graduate course in Water Sciences and Management. He was the Principal Investigator in UNICEF sponsored project of detection of  arsenic in groundwater in Bihar, followed by Dept. Of Biotechnology, Govt. Of India’s project on Isolation and Characterisation of microbes from the soil of Bihar and analysis of their biofertiliser potential.His research group has identified a large number of arsenic hotspots in the mid Ganga plains.Baterial consortium with very good biofertilizer capability has been identified and conserved at IMTECH,Chandigarh,India Another UGC sponsored project was also completed on Bio-synthesis of Nanoparticles by microbes, through  which lead, silver and cadmium nanoparticles were isolated and characterised . Based upon the research findings, he sent a  proposal for bioremediation of arsenic contaminated water to WaterAid UK, that is under active consideration . Dr.Ghosh has done extensive reserach  into Climate Change impacts on surface water configurations,neotectonism and land use in Bihar. Dr. Ghosh is currently studying Health Impacts of Arsenic poisoning among the affected population in Bihar , and in Co-Investigator in another UGC project on Arsenic infiltration iinto te food chain in Bihar. Dr. Ghosh has been named as a collaborating researcher in environmental conservation by Cambridge-India Patnership program. Dr. Ghosh is leading a  3-member Core Group that has submitted to UNDP and UNICEF an action research proposal on establishing a Centre of Excellence in Arsenic Studies in A.N.College.Dr. Ghosh has written 46 research articles and publications , along with 3 books. Currently, he is co-authoring a book relating to global arsenic crises under Nova Science Publication, New York.. Dr.Ghosh has been nominated as one of the member of Bihar State Environmental Impact Assessment Authority by Government of India.
